Axel Tony


Axel Tony (1984-    ) is a famous French pop singer.

Born as Axel Tonye on April 12, 1984 in Colombes, France to a Cameroonian father and a Vietnamese Martinique mother, he grew up surrounded by various forms of music ranging from African traditional folk, French ballads and American rhythm and blues.  His father, Tonyé Jackson, was a famous Cameroonian singer.

Axel Tony began singing professionally when he became a member of the renowned choir, We Are One, while still a teenager and made several appearances on national television in France.  In 2006, he toured with French-language rap artist, Diam's, on her European tour of France, Belgium and Switzerland.  Two years later, he provided background vocals for another French-language rap artist, Kery James, on his single, Lettre à Mon Public.  In 2009, Axel Tony began working with Thayna and Imélie Monteiro, two of the top artists in the music genre of Africa known as zouk.  He was a featured artist in their hit single, Elle ou Moi.  After a successful tour of France and the French-speaking islands of the Carribean, Axel Tony began recording his first solo album, Zouk et Plus Si Affinité, released in 2011.

Signed with Universal Music France, Axel Tony released his second solo studio album, Je Te Ressemble, in 2013.  Both the album and featured hit single, Avec Toi, reached the SNEP French Top Ten charts.  Among his other popular hit singles include Ma Reine, Validé, and a cover of the French classic ballad written by Jacques Brel, Ne Me Quitte Pas.
